Welcome to Gingerbred Hill Farm! We offer quiet, comfortable lodging while traveling with your horses. The farm is located west of Ocala, FL in rural Morriston, FL; where the only noise you'll hear is the whisper of the wind in the pines. Whether you are competing at H.I.T.S., endurance or distance riding in the Goethe Forest, or just want to try some Florida horse trails for a vacation with horses or a long weekend, our goal is to make you feel totally relaxed and at home while you are here.
The Barn for your horses
The simple Florida style barn is open and airy. There are 6 12x12 box stalls with water and a feed/tack room. A wash rack is available to bathe your horse. Six paddocks are located in the guest pasture to the east of the barn; three will accomodate 1 or 2 horses and the other 3 can accomodate up to 3 horses. Double gates off the driveway give access to the barn and 4 RV/trailer sites with electric and water.
Newly renovated, our stalls are large enough to easily accomodate a Percheron/Quarter horse cross that stayed with us for a while. Upper horse panels keep your horse secure and shade cloth keeps the direct sun out and diffuses the rain.
As guests of the farm, breakfast can be taken in either our formal dining room or in the sunroom beyond. If you are staying for a longer period, ask about using the kitchen or grill on the back porch for other meals.Sitting area/media room
The second floor sitting room/media center has dish network tv with cd/dvd players for your enjoyment; books and assorted magazines are available to browse. The futon here can be used as an additional bed for groups or families and curtains can be pulled to add privacy.Overlooking the living room with fireplace below, this area and the shared bathroom separate the two second floor guest rooms.(We figure if you are traveling around the country with a trailer full of horses, that bedrooms on the second floor - with no handicapped access - will NOT be a problem for you)
This is the West Room. Our two guest rooms flank the sitting room and shared bath. They are designed for your comfort and relaxation after you get the horses bedded down. The full bath with a claw-foot soaking tub and rain shower means there is no need to use the hose in the barn to clean up before retiring.
The East Room overlooks the pasture and barn where your horses are. Both rooms offer a queen (in the West room) or a standard sized bed (in the East room), a small table and chairs for a cup of coffee or a place to read a paper or magazine and a comfortable chair or two for relaxing.
